About Us

The Museums and Heritage Network provides opportunities for members to network, meet regularly and discuss issues of common interest and to share good ideas and best practice.  The Network provides a useful interface between the publicly funded Dumfries and Galloway Museums service and the wide range of independent museums and heritage groups operating in the region.  This can lead to the sharing of skills and expertise between members, collaboration on projects and help with touring exhibitions and events within the region.  The Network can also assist in the general promotion and marketing of the museums, their varied collections and their exhibitions and activities.   Membership is open to all museums and heritage organisations in the Region.  It is also open to individual members with a professional interest in the development and promotion of the heritage sector.

Of course most of our members are running museums which are open to the public for all or some of the year and which present the rich tapestry of our history - of the people and places and stories that have defined our part of Scotland.  The exhibitions are there for our visitors to enjoy whether you live here or are just visiting.  Our members page and map will help you plan your visit to what we have on offer.
